Plan Your Visit to CU Medicine

We’re glad you’ve chosen CU Medicine for your healthcare. Planning ahead for your visit helps things go smoothly. It also lets you make the most of your time with our healthcare team. Here’s what you need to know before you arrive.

Schedule Your Visit

CU Medicine offers several ways to schedule your appointment. Visit our Make an Appointment page for more information. You can book online, call to schedule, browse specialties or search for a provider or location.

When scheduling an appointment, please provide the reason, or chief complaint, for your visit.

If you are seeing a specialist, your insurance plan may require a referral from your primary care provider. Check with your insurance plan before your appointment.

Verify Your Insurance

CU Medicine accepts a wide range of insurance plans to help patients access care. Our Accepted Insurance page provides a full list of the plans CU Medicine accepts.

Check with your insurance provider before your appointment. This way, you can confirm your benefits and coverage, as they can change.

Copayments or other required patient payments are typically due at appointment check-in, depending on your insurance plan.

If you do not have health insurance, contact our billing department at 303-493-7700. We can discuss payment options before you receive health care services. This will ensure you have information about the actual amount of your financial responsibility at the time of service.

When to Arrive

Plan to arrive at the clinic 15-20 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.

Arriving early allows time to complete the necessary forms and paperwork. You may also complete online check-in before your appointment using your My Health Connection account. If you don’t have a My Health Connection account, click here to sign up online.

Patients who arrive more than 10 minutes after their scheduled appointment time may be asked to reschedule.

Preparing for Your Virtual Visit

Virtual visits make it easy to connect with a CU Medicine provider on your computer or mobile device. Virtual visits are available for patients in Colorado and other select locations. Our Virtual Visits page has information on how to schedule a virtual appointment and what to expect.

If you have an upcoming virtual visit, here are some helpful tips to help you prepare.

  • Have all of your medication in front of you at the time of your visit.
  • Make notes ahead of your appointment if there is anything specific that you would like to discuss with your doctor.
  • Have a paper and pen to write down any notes during your visit.
  • Complete any questionnaires before your visit.
  • Before your visit, take readings if you have a scale, blood pressure (BP) monitor, glucose monitor or pulse oximeter. This information will be helpful for your appointment. Share that information with the medical assistant who will contact you before the start of your visit.

During Your Visit

Your provider will review your health history, discuss your concerns and work with you to develop a care plan tailored to your needs. This may include:

  • A physical examination
  • Diagnostic tests
  • Discussion of treatment options or next steps

Please feel free to ask questions at any time. Your understanding and comfort are important to us.

After Your Visit

If follow-up care is needed, your provider or clinic staff will guide you on next steps. This may include scheduling future appointments or addressing billing or insurance questions. If you have questions before or after your visit, call your clinic directly for assistance.

Reschedule or Cancel Your Appointment

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, call your clinic at least 24 hours in advance.
